Air Canada’s new Toronto-Budapest route is only the latest in a parade of new international routes the airline has been rolling out, and more are to come.
The flights, operating under Air Canada’s Rouge brand, join a route opened earlier this summer between Toronto and Prague, and service to Warsaw will start tomorrow, all using 767s.
Non-stop flights like these from North America to these destinations are fairly rare; most travelers need to change planes in other European cities. Air Canada’s flights on these routes operate 3 times a week in each direction. For now, they are summer seasonal.
Other recent additions include Toronto–London Gatwick, Montreal–Casablanca, Vancouver–Brisbane and Vancouver–Dublin. Coming soon are Toronto–Glasgow, Toronto–Seoul, and Montreal–Lyon. Last year, Air Canada launched new routes from Toronto to Delhi, Amsterdam and Dubai, as well as from Montreal to Venice and Mexico City. Vancouver also got a route to Osaka, Japan.

The 787 Dreamliner has really opened up options for Air Canada and other airlines. Vancouver-Delhi is another. With older 767s some smaller cities are also finding direct travel.
