British railroads to ditch paper tickets

The European Union isn’t the only thing Britain has decided this week to be done with. The country’s railroads will get rid of the familiar orange-striped paper tickets within the next few years.

Most tickets can already be purchased on line and printed at home or shown as QR codes, and contactless cards are also in the mix. The rail industry sees savings, while others are nostalgic about the tickets which have had their present form for nearly 150 years.

There will have to be some form of paper tickets, though, for those without access to computers and smartphones. For more details and speculation from The Telegraph (UK), click HERE
