Tuesday’s bombing at Istanbul’s main airport has had a big impact on Turkey’s cruise and tour business, with most major cruise lines that hadn’t already done so cancelling their stops at Istanbul.
Celebrity, Cunard, Princess, Holland-America, Windstar and Seabourn all had stops planned for the next few weeks; four of the lines have canceled and will operate from other ports including Piraeus, Greece. Princess and Holland-America are still monitoring the situation and may also cancel.
In previous months, after bombings in Istanbul and Ankara, Crystal, MSC and Disney had already canceled Turkey for 2016, and Celebrity had canceled overnight stays in the country.
Because Istanbul is an important starting point for many Eastern Mediterranean cruises, the shifts will mean passengers or cruise lines will need to rebook many flights from Istanbul to other cities.
