Go directly to jail—1000 BC

Rome is re-opening an unusual tourist attraction: the 3000-year-old Carcer Tullianum prison believed to have once housed Saints Peter and Paul.

It’s located under a 16th-century church near the Roman forum, and has been closed for a year for archaeological investigation and for installation of a new multi-media tour guide.
