Ever wonder who organizes the lines you stand on? Not the chaotic ones that can lead to short tempers, but the carefully-crafted ones that make the wait for the ride almost part of the experience?
Over the years, park operators like Disney have made almost a science of it, and now you can even earn a degree in it. The Savannah College of Art and Design has a whole academic program focused on Themed Entertainment Design, leading to a Master of Fine Arts degree.
The program opened four years ago, and is now feeding graduates into the world of attraction design—and one of the courses focuses on designing queues to keep the crowd engaged while waiting for a ride that may last less time than the wait.
USA Today had a recent article that explores the program and the field in some depth. Have a look at it HERE
