London’s long-delayed plan for 24-hour Underground service, at least on weekends, gets its start today, with overnight service on major parts of several lines, with more due to join later.
The initial services will be on the Central, Jubilee, Victoria, Piccadilly and Northern lines, although not all branches are included. When modernization work is finished, there may be service added to Metropolitan, Circle, and District lines.
The service will start simply by continuing service after the usual 1 am close on Friday and Saturday nights. Normal service and schedules will resume on Sunday mornings. During the night service, a network of night buses will connect to the open stations to get passengers the rest of the way home.

It’s a shock to see the night service finally happen. I was beginning to think it never would.
