Some of my friends are sure I’m obsessed with birds, and perhaps it’s so. Or perhaps it is just an admiration for the efficient way in which they move, hunt, eat and sometimes make foul comments on public art…or people.
In any case, I do find myself fascinated with gulls in flight, especially when they are soaring, with their wings spread. Hardly what you’d imagine, just looking at one standing about.
These three pictures were taken in and around Weymouth, England, this summer; the one below was taken several years ago at Cape Elizabeth, Maine. I like the picture enough to ignore the fact it’s a plover, not a gull.
