Norwegian Air, already an industry disrupter with trans-Atlantic fares as low as $99, is now hinting at fares as low as $69 with a fleet of new planes due to arrive starting next year.
The airline, which has built its long-distance model around the Boeing 787 is now turning to a new generation of 737s, the MAX8, to go the next step. The MAX8 has new fuel-efficient engines and upgraded aerodynamics; it’s eagerly awaited by many airlines.
Norwegian expects the first of its planes in March; chief commercial officer Thomas Ramdahl promises an announcement on the cheap fares by the end of this year. Of course, whatever the price is, it’s before the add-ons for checked bags, seat assignments, etc. For details from The Telegraph (UK) click HERE
