The headline is a mouthful, but the idea is simple: Have a question about France? Dial one number from anywhere in the world, and you’ll be connected to a random volunteer French person who will try to answer your question.
The project is called “The French Number,” and is modeled after a Swedish program started last year. The French version is launching with 1500 volunteers and expects 80,000 calls by December. All the volunteers speak English as well as French; many of them speak other languages as well.
