When guard dogs turned out not to be enough to keep thieves out of a used auto parts company, the owner turned to a new resource: fighting bulls, turned loose on the premises.
While you certainly wouldn’t want to encounter a bull in a china shop, it appears that thieves aren’t interested in meeting them in a scrapyard either.
Emilio Cervero, whose business near Montserrat had been repeatedly invaded, and his guard dogs either turned loose or killed, has seen a stop to the robberies since he acquired two ‘toros bravos,’ the bulls specially bred for bullfighting.
Cervero says the problem started when road construction cut off part of his land, and replaced a wall with a wire fence that could be cut. He told a local TV station that “The bulls can roam around freely in the yard and let’s hope they do their job.”
