Dec. 6, 2016: Luxury Hotel for Bugs

Usually ‘bug’ and ‘hotel’ in the same sentence provokes unpleasant images, and perhaps stories of bedbugs or other unwelcome guests.

But bugs need a place to stay, too, and while no one wants to encourage the ‘bad’ ones, it’s the rest of the insect kingdom, largely, that keeps them in check and helps agriculture in other ways. So a ‘bug hotel’ makes sense.

But finding one labeled that way…that’s for the bugs and also for amusement in a public park, in this case, the one above the town of Weymouth, England, and just near its Victorian-era Nothe Fort.

Just so bugs can get the idea they are welcome, there are also several playful figures of bugs and grasshoppers nearby.
