A massive and beautiful nature site, we’ve previously discussed the Perito Merino Glacier in Los Glacieres National Park . While watching and photographing the glacier, I was fortunate enough to see a huge building-sized piece begin to break off and fall into the lagoon, where it evoked a massive spray of water. I shot a burst of images with my SLR, all of which are attached below.
I’ve inserted a few images of the falling ice into this post, but suggest you open the first of the attached images, then scroll through the rest quickly, giving a poor man’s “motion picture” of what it was like. What you won’t appreciate is the thunderous crack as it peeled away and began to fall, and the tremendous splash as it landed in the water.
Nature at its finest ! The ever evolving Earth in all its glory.
Sometimes – when I have seen such wonders with my own eyes – I feel like its a great privilege to witness such events.
I’ve seen two total eclipses of the Sun in my life. I can replay them in my mind and they still amaze me.
