January 5. 2017: Not just another Sunset, Formby, England

This location is 8 miles north of Liverpool. Formby is on an amazing piece of land that protrudes into the Irish Sea in a delta. The town of Formby is 18 inches below sea level. It’s protected by sand dunes 40 feet high.

As you can see in the photo the Yachts and Boats have come to rest on soft sand. The tide will go out and leave a beach 4 miles deeper. A long walk before you can take a brave paddle in the cold sea.

Not even the brave will attempt it though! When the tide returns  the water runs so fast that you can’t out run it.

Soon, the low-tide line will be under 31 feet of water. And the beach returns itself to a respectable 15 feet of sand.
