Think of winter holidays in Switzerland, and you probably have a vision of a chalet, a snow-covered field, maybe hot chocolate and Heidi with pigtails. But there are some quite different versions out there!
TheLocal.ch has collected a number of alternative destinations for Swiss winter travel, including one that’s based on a pack of 30 Siberian huskies who will pull your sled, accompany you on showshoes or help you learn other authentic Siberian skills.
Others include tiny luxury ‘whitepods’ on mountainsides with private ski runs and gourmet dining nearby; Mongolian yurts, portable homes that hold 2 to 8 vacationers; and igloo hotels.
