Denmark’s cancer society, worried that Danes have one of the highest rates of sun-related cancers in the world, have churned out a series of humorous video ads, asking citizens of sunny countries to remind Danish vacationers to protect themselves from too much sun.
The ads, in six languages, feature a chorus of badly-sunburned danes singing softly in the background, as a narrator explains how much Danes love the beaches and beautiful sun of the country (each version features different national flags, but the same narrator).
He points to a plate of the local food, and to a badly-burned version, labeled with a Danish flag and explains that when Danes travel from the frozen north, they need to be reminded to protect themselves from cancer by using sun-screen, parasols and other measures. Here’s an example of the videos; the others can all be found by searching YouTube for “Help a Dane.”
