Authorities in Iceland are becoming increasingly concerned by reports of motorists driving under the influence—of the island nation’s spectacular natural light show.
A local news site, Víkurfréttir, commented on a number of police reports where motorists were at first suspected of being drunk, but turned out to not be able to take their eyes off the Aurora Borealis, to give it its formal name.
“The driver told the police he saw the Northern Lights and couldn’t bring himself to stop looking at them,” it said. “The police asked him to park the vehicle if he wanted to keep on gazing at the sky.”
