This month will see the opening of Tulipani Italiani, a combination of floral display and do-it-yourself flower shopping, featuring 250,000 tulips in 183 varieties.
The field, at Cornaredo, 11 km from Milan, allows visitors to pick as many flowers as they want at €1.50 each; admission is two tulips’ worth. It’s Italy’s first pick-your-own for flowers. In addition to the self-serve, there are elaborate floral displays at the edges of the farm.
The owners are, perhaps not surprisingly, a couple from the Netherlands, who say it will become the “happiest place in Milan…it will be a place to take pictures, to collect tulips and enjoy the beauty and nature.”
Just for good measure, here’s an unusual aerial view of tulip fields in China.
