If you find yourself annoyed at crowds of people taking selfies in front of every attraction, you may have a new argument against it: a German researcher believes all those heads-together cute selfies may be spreading head lice.
The lice, which can’t survive for more than a short time without a human host, can make the leap to a new head while the picture’s being taken, according to Professor Hermann Feldmeier from Charite hospital’s Institute for Microbiology and Hygiene, writing in a German health magazine.
He was writing in response to an increase in head lice cases among 8 to 12-year olds, and especially girls. “Girls like to put their heads together when they take selfies,” he pointed out.
