Barcelona has extended its free WiFi system, which now covers most of the city, to its buses as well, with more than 1000 transit buses becoming rolling hotspots.
The city already had wide coverage through a network of over 1000 hotspots around the city as well as in public buildings and Metro stations.
However, legal restrictions on the city limit the speed on outdoor WiFi to 256kbps. Inside museums and public buildings, the speed is much higher, as there are no restrictions. In outdoor space, higher speed can be purchased from a private vendor.
