Nothing says summer pleasure better than a cold gelato on a hot afternoon—and now the treat isn’t only for humans. At the suggestion of local kennel volunteers, an Italian resort town gelateria has come up with pet-safe flavors.
“Vieste, our town, is animal friendly,” one of the volunteers from the kennel told TheLocal.it. “Here, you can come on holiday with a dog and go anywhere – lidos accept animals and even offer deck chairs for them.”
So, Gelateria Maggiore worked out recipes for flavors and ingredients dogs can safely eat, and put them on sale this week, with free tastes for the first day (for the dogs, that is). The owner is planning a special offer, by the way: buy a gelato, and get one free for your pet in exchange for a contribution to the non-profit kennel.
