Congratulations to George G and PortMoresby for correctly deducing that Gumbo was spending a day among the wonderful art works at The Museum of Fine Arts, in Boston MA.

The MFA is the fourth largest art museum in the United States, with over 450,000 works in its collection. It originally opened in 1875, and moved to its current location, designed by Guy Lowell in 1907. The first addition to the building was along the Fens in in 1915. While there have been other expansions over the years, the biggest was the West Wing, designed by I.M. Pei, which opened in 1981.

The museum has an extensive collection and you would probably need more than one day to to see it all, but here were some of my highlights:

Don’t be afraid to open doors and go down corridors, there is art hiding almost everywhere.

The MFA is on Huntington Ave and is easily accessible by the taking the Green Line (E branch) to the MFA stop.

It’s a great museum!  Well worth at least a day when visiting Boston.  Thanks, Jonathan.
