The island of Sicily has some of the oldest ruins of Greek buildings. One of them is Amphitheater in the city of Siracusa. This large gathering place was home to many theatrical productions when the island was under control of the Greeks and Romans in the pre-christian era. It could hold many thousands of people.
These grottos above the theater are thought to have held statues and other decorative items.
DrFumblefinger explores the architecture in “Downtown Casablanca”. Most were constructed in the period between WWI and WWII, and show art deco and art nouveau features combined with Moroccan/Moorish features.
A delicious lunch was capped by a pleasant young Berber girl pouring mint tea for us.
