Fans of the long-running HBO series Game of Thrones will have a one-day chance to step into the scene on Sept. 24 when Castle Ward opens its grounds for a new Winterfell Festival.
The estate stood in for Winterfell, home of the House of Stark, in season one of the costume epic. The 820-acre estate is now property of the National Trust. The main house dates to the 1760s, but there are older buildings on the site.
Festival visitors will see displays of pomp and circumstance, medieval games and warfare, appropriate food and more, as well as having the opportunity for a ‘green screen’ picture that will put them into the scene with the Stark family.
