If all roads lead to Rome—eventually—it still helps to have a map that shows you where to turn. And now you do.
Sasha Trubetskoy, a statistics student at the University of Chicago created it, in part as an academic exercise and in part because “I’ve always had an interest in Ancient Rome, starting from when I read Asterix as a little kid,” she says.
Trubetskoy says he wanted a more accurate and easy to grasp map than the ones he found, although he did take some liberties, such as omitting smaller cities to avoid clutter, and naming some roads that never had formal names. The full version of his map is available at Viae Romanae Majores
