The Centers for Disease Control found seven ships with perfect scores on their health inspections last quarter, and no ship failed this time.
All ships that visit U.S. ports are inspected twice a year as part of CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program, and must score above 85 to pass. This quarter, 100-point scores went to two Royal Caribbean ships, two from Norwegian Cruise Line, and two from Carnival’s group of companies, as well as one from Oceania, a Norwegian subsidiary.
Ships that don’t pass must be re-inspected within 30-45 days. They can continue sailing in the meantime unless inspectors find immediate danger to health. The CDC inspection covers eight areas, including galleys and dining rooms, swimming pools and other water features, child accommodations and cabins.
