Bad news for Cuba’s tourism industry is producing bargains for travelers—at least those not discouraged by U.S. policy from visiting.
Cuba’s been hit with a double-whammy this year, with Trump’s reversal of Obama’s policy of loosening travel restrictions followed by hurricanes. While it’s moved quickly to re-open storm-damaged resorts, tourism is down and prices are following.
UK tour vendors are offering discounts and extra amenities; Expedia UK lists discounts up to 65% in its sale ads. Spanish hotel operator Melia is offering 50% off in some of its city hotels, and Gaviota, the government company that operates hotels in Old Havana is offering 15% off on bookings through April 30.
The hurricane damage in Cuba especially affected north coast resorts, but they are re-opening over the next two months. However, Cuba’s hope for a big increase in tourism, based on more travel from the U.S., has changed. For more details, from Telegraph (UK), click HERE.
