Tokyo may have the next Olympics and Russia the football World Cup, but Esbjerg, Denmark has beaten out all comers to host the 2021 World Darts Cup.
The tournament expects to host 550 players from 40 countries when the event is held at Esbjerg’s Sport and Event Park, also home for the past several years to Danish darts events, including the Denmark Open and Denmark Masters tournaments.
Denmark has seen a growth in darts and in high-level competitions, with the number of active clubs doubling over the past eight years.
And you thought it was just an amusement for an idle night at the pub!
