They still heart NY, but NYC & Company, New York City’s official tourism promotion agency, has launched a new look for the city’s ads and promotions, featuring the tagline ‘Famous Original New York City.”
The $15 million campaign is aimed at getting visitors to see more of the city than the standard famous sights. It reminds Empire State Building visitors, for instance, that they’re only a block or so from the city’s Koreatown restaurants, and points out new ways to see the old standards.
“We’re encouraging travelers to New York City to go beyond the selfie, to go beyond their top bucket list, and explore and engage more deeply with the destination,” NYC & Company CEO Fred Dixon told media interviewers.
The campaign is matched with a new version of the agency’s website with many new videos, photos and stories.
