Airbnb has bought a travel start-up that aims at making it easier to find accessible places to stay around the world.
The company, Accomable, was founded by two friends with spinal muscular dystrophy, and specializes in places that are accessible in many ways, including step-free access, roll-in showers or shower chairs and more. The company’s listings will now be available through the Airbnb platform.
In addition, the Accomable team will now work within Airbnb on ways to make more of Airbnb’s listings accessible, and to develop an ‘accessibility needs’ checklist to allow hosts to be more descriptive.
