For any Gumbo fans who are still looking for an exciting New Years Eve event, Bethlehem, PA is waiting for you with an event that’s absolutely unique.
New York has its Times Square ball-drop, but who wants to wait in fenced-in cold for hours with far-too-many people when a 90-minute freeway jaunt will take you to Bethlehem to watch the midnight drop of a 400-pound Marshmallow Peeps chick.
Bethlehem is home to Just Born, the company behind the ubiquitous Peeps (and a few other brands, including Hot Tamales, of all things), and the company’s publicist describes the event as ‘the sweetest New Year’s Eve drop in the US.’ And that’s in competition not only with New York, but with Atlanta’s giant peach and a huge acorn that marks the Raleigh, NC festivities.
Bethlehem’s celebration includes more than just the drop; it’s the finale of a 2-day family-friendly PeepsFest featuring a variety of events, as well as a chance to meet the 400-pound, 4-foot-9-inch namesake of the event. For more info on the festival, click HERE.
