Korean Air has taken delivery on its first CS-300 jetliners from Bombardier, and both companies are enjoying a moment in the publicity sun.
The airline, which will receive eight more of the planes, configured at 127 seats, in 2018, for a total of 10. They’re slated to be used on ‘thin-market’ regional flights, allowing the airline to use its larger planes to expand other markets.
It’s also part of the good news for Bombardier, which has had delays in getting the C-Series program fully off the ground. Delays, delayed engine deliveries and tax threats from the U.S. have dominated past news, and so far the only other deliveries have gone to airBaltic and Swiss.
But as the year ends, production has been picking up. And with Airbus as a majority partner, orders are starting to pick up, too. As of June 30, there were 360 orders for the CS-100 and CS-300, and it is reported that about 40 more orders may be announced shortly.
