Dec. 31, 2017: Disappearing Gun, Fort Casey, Washington

Fort Casey served as a part of the protection for Puget Sound against invading naval ships. One of its features were “disappearing” 8-inch guns. These artillery guns would sit below the fortifications while being loaded, and then would spring up to fire. The one above is in its firing position.
