Amadeus targets millenials for cruising growth

Amadeus has become the next major river cruise operator to set its sights on the millenial generation as a passenger growth area, an idea already marked out by Uniworld’s U brand, which is launching two new ships this spring, aimed entirely at the generation of travelers born between 1980 and 2000.

Amadeus offerings will include Rhine, Rhone and Danube trips in 2019, each with a ‘celebrity influencer’ aboard to host and to post for his or her social media followers. The host will also present programs aboard the ship. None of the ‘influencers’ have been named yet, but Amadeus says it has them signed up.

Disney, partnered with Ama Waterways, also has a finger in this segment of the market, offering kid-centered cruises for these families and their children, as well as some adults-only cruises with the Disney theme.
