With a view across the Norwegian Sea to the Lofoten mountains, Norway’s newest public toilet, called Ureddplessen may be the world’s most scenic.
But the view is not all: the building, located on Norwegian Scenic Route Helgelandskyten, has a unique wave-shaped design of its own, not to mention benches outside suitable for a picnic, or just waiting for a family member to finish using the facilities. There are also steps leading down to the shore.
Nearby is a memorial to the crew of the submarine Uredd, for which the area is named; it was manned by an exiled crew of Norwegian anti-Nazi sailors, and was sunk by a mine in 1943 while on its way to deliver a commando group with a mission to destroy Nazi facilities on land.
