An unusual exhibit of street-art-styled murals, all featuring Charles Schulz’s Snoopy character, is having its opening in seven cities around the world, with the first unveiled in Paris yesterday. The next to go live will be in New York tomorrow.
Peanuts Worldwide, which holds the rights to Schulz’s work gave an exceptional permission to the seven street artists in the project, chosen by the Peanuts Global Artists Collective (did you even know it existed?)
“I think Charles Schulz would love this project,” Melissa Menta of Peanuts Worldwide told French media. “He loved artists and in one strip he has Snoopy daydreaming about Christo. At the end of it he returns to find that he has wrapped his doghouse, which Christo then did in real life.”
The remaining unveilings will take place in Tokyo, Seoul, Berlin, Mexico City and San Francisco. Now’s the time to plan a trip to see them all!
