Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort

As Hyatt Reward members we have stayed at a few Hyatt locations, however, none of them have been as nice as the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa. It is located on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki, and has to be one of the most incredible hotels in the Hyatt Brand.  We had stayed at the Andaz on 5th Avenue in New York which was really nice, but this one blew me away.

The Aloha Spirit was evident as soon as I walked into the hotel and headed toward the front desk.  I had at least 3 employees nod at me, say hi, and one of them offered me a drink of water or pineapple Iced Tea. It was very tasty.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-AtriumThe other thing I first noticed was the phenomenal three-story, open-air atrium with orchids, palm trees, and waterfalls, all surrounded by shops. I had to stop and take a bunch of pictures and just enjoy the peace and tranquility. It was great to just sit and relax after a long day. Another thing that was really cool were the live Macaws in the atrium as well named Mali, and Kimo They were quite interesting to watch.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-MacawsAs far as the hotel itself, there are two towers with 1,230 rooms, each with a private lanai and designed to be smart, intuitive, and timeless.  Each room consists of an in-room safe large enough to store a laptop computer, iHome stereo with iPod® docking station, 55” flat screen TV, multiple USB outlets, Toto Washlet, exclusive bath amenities from Na Ho’ola Spa, generous work areas, and many have stunning views of the ocean or city.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-RoomSpeaking of views, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki has the most breathtaking views, whether from a room or from one of the cabanas in the pool area. Cabanas are available for full or half day rental for up to three people per cabana. Half-day times are 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM or 2:30 PM to 9:00 PM for $40.  Full day times are 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM for $60.  Rentals may be charged to your room and special rates are available for Gold Passport members.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-PoolWhile you are in the pool area, make sure to take advantage of the large hot tub. It is great after a busy day of walking around Waikiki.  After relaxing in the hot tub, make sure to enjoy a drink at the SWIM Bar in the pool area. They have happy hour food and drink specials. Monday-Thursday from 4-6pm.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-Hot-TubSadly we didn’t take advantage of the restaurant while we were there. However they have a really nice establishment called Japengo Steak and Seafood.  Apparently they deliver quality rib eye, porterhouse and grass-fed beef along with fresh island seafood.  If someone has been there, please feel free to share your experience. We may want to visit next time we are there .

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-Atrium2I really liked the location of the hotel. It is right across from  Kuhio Beach Park where they hold the Free Kuhio Beach Hula Show every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. Duke Kahanamoku Statue is just steps away from the crystal clear water. I don’t see how there could t have been a better location on Waikiki. Another advantage of staying at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki, is the free Farmers Market they have on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-8 pm.  Really amazing to be right there

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-StoreBesides the Farmers Market, there are many stores of various variety located throughout the premises, including two ABC stores. Some of the stores that I found most interesting are the In Paradise, the Honolulu Cookie Company, Folli Follie, and the Flip Flop Shop. They were all unique and interesting in their own way.

Hyatt-Regency-Waikiki-TowersLike I said in the beginning of this post, I really enjoyed the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and I would gladly stay here anytime we are in Waikiki. It was absolutely beautiful with some of the most amazing views. Here is a link to their website for reservations and more info. Again, one of the best hotels in the Hyatt brand.
