Duncombe Park, N. Yorkshire: “The Secret Garden”

Duncombe Park is a large estate and stately home in North Yorkshire U.K., just outside the village of Helmsley. We happened to be walking through the grounds a few days ago on a warm May evening when we came across a film crew packing up after a day’s filming of a remake of “The Secret Garden”.

(Editor’s note:  The photo above also was our one clue mystery this week.  Congratulations to George G and Professor Abe who figured out where we were)

Hunger in B&W

The setting is quite apt, as the grounds include a walled “secret” kitchen garden with a ruined castle as an impressive backdrop.

The crew were very friendly and allowed me to take shots of the area. Unfortunately the stars, Colin Firth and Julie Walters were not present, but an interesting visit anyway.

Wonderful photos, Paul, thanks!  One can certainly see why  it would make a great filming location.
