IATA says airport crisis is coming

Passenger volume continues to rise, and will soon begin to overwhelm airport capacity if new airports and facilities aren’t started soon, according to the International Air Transport Association, which represents over 200 airlines.

IATA says that juggling landing and arrival slots, a common practice to squeeze capacity out of existing airports will not be enough, with expected passenger volume doubling by 2036 to 7.8 billion.

And it says that privatizing airports is no panacea; five of the world’s top passenger favorites are publicly owned, with no evidence that private fields are more efficient, only more expensive. For more details, from Japan Today, click HERE
