Schiphol keeping an eye on problem flyers

With growing numbers of incidents involving intoxicated passengers, both on planes and on the ground, Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is training bar and restaurant staff to help prevent incidents.

HMSThe airport’s 2,800 catering staff have been trained to spot problem situations and intervene earlier, by refusing to serve drinks to passengers and calling ahead to warn airlines about aggressive individuals.

Read more at DutchNews.nl:Host, which operates about 70% of the concessions at the airport, says spending on drinks and meals has grown twice as fast as the number of passengers. The company says most customers are no problem, but ‘Some of them get noisy and disruptive and cause a commotion on board, which is a nightmare for flight crews. We can’t tolerate dangerous situations.’
