TSA: Now, show us your powders

First it was the computers out of the bag, then the liquids in a 3-1-1 bag, then the Kindles and tablets, then the snacks—and now TSA wants to scan your powder separately.

TSA says its main concern about powders, including cosmetics, baby powder, protein/energy powders and more, is improvised explosives, but it is also concerned about fentanyl or pepper spray onboard. And especially, it allows scanners a better view of everything else in the bag, potentially speeding the line.

Containers above 350 ml of powder, about the size of a soda can, are the focus. TSA will also be asking foreign airports with direct flights to the U.S. to also follow the new procedure.
