Lisbon has been picked as Europe’s ‘Green Capital’ for 2020, following this year’s reign by Nijmegen in the Netherland’s and next year’s honor for Oslo.
The award, given by the EU’s Environment Commissioner, honors a city of 100,000 or more for its commitment to environmental, social and economic sustainability.
The award was first given, to Stockholm, in 2010. This year’s runners-up were Lahti, Finland and Ghent, Belgium.
