Copenhagen’s harbor ferries will soon become green not only by eliminating carbon emissions, they will also take on a new green paint scheme, replacing the yellow and blue boats now in service.
The new boats will be electric-powered, and the city has allocated funds to add charging points to the terminals. Otherwise, the city’s mayor says, the cost to the city will not change, and neither will the fare, now set to be the same as the city’s buses and trains.
The new green boats, with larger windows and more passenger capacity, will start entering service next year, under contract with British operator Arriva, which recently won a contract to take over the service.
