Dublin has a new attraction for the garden-minded, a Dublin Garden Trail that includes a dozen gardens in and around the Irish capital, most of them not normally open to the public.
The gardens range from small urban settings to cottage gardens to huge estates such as Mount Usher. Although it’s billed as Dublin, half the gardens are in nearby areas of County Wicklow. Groups can book visits at rates from about €5 per person.
Diarmid Gavin, who organized the project, told the Independent newspaper that “Each garden is creatively nurtured by their owners who are garden lovers and creators of these beautiful places. What makes these gardens special is that visitors receive a personal tour by the dedicated owners who will reveal the garden’s stories and special gems.”
