If ever there were a bridge designed to grab international attention, this is it: high in the mountains near Da Nang in central Vietnam, this 150-metre footbridge offers high-level views across the mountains.
Opened in June, and called Cau Vang, or Gold Bridge, the unusual structure took under a year to construct. It’s in the Ba Na Hills, an area that was once a favorite vacation haunt of French colonial administrators. After Vietnam’s revolution and the Vietnam war, it fell into ruin.
Recently, however, it has had new attractions, including a replica French village and gardens, a cavernous amusement complex below the village, and a renewed 5.8-mile cable car track, once the world’s longest and highest.
