Lonely Planet has gone to sea, with a new series of guidebooks aimed at cruise fans who want to know more about what’s ashore.
Three titles in the series have been published so far, covering Scandinavia and Northern Europe, the Caribbean and Alaska. The Alaska guide includes Seattle and Vancouver, the usual departure points for cruises.
Largely drawn from Lonely Planet’s extensive line-up of locality guides, they group material on groups of port cities, rather than whole countries, and provide information on activities, outings, shopping, dining and local transportation. They also include month-by-month guides to help in trip planning.
