Germany’s express motorways have had some unusual traffic issues in recent months, including a flock of ducks and a herd of water buffaloes and even an overturned truckload of pigs.
The latest, last Sunday, brought traffic to a halt on the autobahn between Stuttgart and Heilbronn when a Cameroon ram escaped from his field and wandered onto the highway.
Five patrol units from local police, several officers from federal police and a number of civilian drivers worked together and were finally able to corner and capture the sheep and get it back to its owner. Police said that despite civilian help, “The capture was made more difficult due to other, irresponsible drivers who had decided to loudly cheer the ram on.”
