Norway’s surprisingly-popular TV series will soon broadcast a seven-hour trek up the country’s tallest mountain in real time, with the cameras running all the way.
State broadcaster NRK has done this kind of thing before, with hours, sometimes days, of a reindeer migration, a fire burning, a sweater being knitted and a ferry trip. The first production was a camera attached to the front of an Oslo-Bergen train in 2009.
This time, a team of station employees and volunteers will take on Galdhoppigen, which despite being Norway’s tallest mountain is not rated a difficult climb. The broadcast starts at 9:30 am Thursday, Norway time, and will be on live TV as well as NRK’s internet streaming service.
