AIDAnova, the new flagship of Carnival’s Germany-based Aida brand, has launched and will see passenger service this winter as the largest ship across all of Carnival’s brands, and the fifth-largest cruise ship in the world.
And, like its brandmates, it’s painted with an appealing face on the bow that will certainly cause some to dub it Cruisy McCruiseface, after the British exploration ship that didn’t get named Boaty McBoatface, despite a public poll calling for that name.
The $1.1 billion ship, built at Meyerwerft in Papenburg, Germany, 20 decks, 17 restaurants and 23 bars. It’s rated at 184,000 tonnes and is nearly 1100 feet long.
