Nearly a thousand state-owned scenic areas and tourist attractions in China have cut or eliminated their admission fees in a bid to attract more visitors and to allow more Chinese people to discover their country’s wide variety.
Dropped prices will be found in a wide variety of places, including the Zhangjiajie scenic zone in Hunan (above), the famed Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an, the stone forest in Yunnan and more. The drops come in response to a document issued last June by the National Development and Reform Commission, which called for improved service quality along with the cuts.
Admission prices have been cut by over 20% at 491 spots, and by over 30% at 214 more, with 74 dropping fees altogether.
