Any time is good for a celebration, if the numbers are right, and for Boeing, this delivery to China Southern Airways seems right: it’s the 787th 787 to roll off Boeing’s production lines since 2011.
The delivery was actually to AerCap, a large aircraft leasing company that supplies planes to china Southern and many others. Since the first delivery, 787s have carried over 300 million passengers on 1.5 million flights.
The 787 family has been Boeing’s fastest-selling twin-aisle plane ever, with 639 still to go on its order books, and more selling, especially since the launch of the biggest 787, the 787-10, last month.
